Summary: Shared hosting server morgana is currently experiencing issues and our engineering team is working on it.
We'll post updates when we have them.
Update: 17:00
Sorry about the delays in getting back to you all. This machine is dead, we're currently in the process of building a replacement machine. We hope to have it ready in the coming hours, at which point it'll take some time to migrate the data off of the disks. We estimate approx 8 or so hours for the complete restore. We do apologise for the delays in this, however these machines have upward of 10m+ files on them and these can take some time to restore.
UPDATE: 19:12
The new hardware is online and the technical team are currently working on setting software and services and transferring data onto it.
Update: 23:10
The new server is up. All mysql data is restored, all configuration is restored. The main data store is currently at 65% restored totalling around 52GB completed. Restores can take some time as there's a lot of data involved.
We've tested serveral websites and they all appear to be working fine.
On the upgrade, it's a more modern server than the old morgana was and has 8GB of ram. So expect to see some additional performance gains.
Update 01:00
This machine is now backup. All sites that we've checked appear to be working normally, e-mail is flowing etc. If you have any issues please let our helpdesk know.
Summary: Today at 16:39 customers on several firewall segments were impacted by high packetloss. This was the result of a yet unknown event, however we were able to restore service within a timely manner by forcing the "active" firewall into standby thus forcing the standby firewall to take over.
We're currently investigating the cause further and examining syslogs, port graphs, cpu graphs etc. We will post a conclusion to the issue once our engineering team have completed their investigations.
Current situation as of 17:10:
Network connectivity was restored within 10 minutes of the actual event occuring however some services like e-mail on our shared hosting cluster will take some time to recover as there are an extraordinary number of inbound connections into the cluster and the load balancer is doing it's best to diviy out connections to the mail servers.
Update 1810
Mail services should be back to normal, but if there are any issues let us know.
When: Tuesday August 25th @ 14:45
Summary: Our main office in Carlow is having some intermittent connectivity issues. Our fibre backhaul provider tells us that they're having some issues on their "core node" and this is the cause of the problem. When we get more information about this issue and when we have an ETA for a permanent fix we'll update this post.
Service Outage: Our phones are affected by this issue. They're working 100% at the moment but when we loose connectivity in the brief spurts that we've seen since 14:45 calls may drop. Please call us back immediately if a call is dropped.
Update: 15:30
We've not seen any issues since, however e-net are telling us they're still having issues but they're not service effecting at the moment. We'll leave this open for another 24 hours to monitor it and we'll post updates if we get more info back.
Summary: We're changing phone systems on August 17th at 11am, for a period of about 1 hour we may not be reachable via our regular local numbers. However our 1850 number should work throughout the change over.
Details:
On Monday the 17th of August at approx 11am our eircom lines will be ported over to a sip trunk that is terminated on a box in our office. As this will be running over fibre it'll give much greater call capacity. Our 059 numbers will be porting away from Eircom so there will be a period of time where they won't work during the switch over.
Our phone menu stucture is going to change. It'll be far more simplified than it is currently. e.g. 1 for Support, 2 for Sales and 3 for accounts
Note: during this time we ask that all customers e-mail us their queries and we'll call you back!
We'll post further updates closer to the time to remind everyone!
Update: 08:30 Mon Aug 17th
This morning if you can not get through on our main line or 1850 number please call 0599167400 instead. Our international customers can get us via +353599167400 and we hope that the main number 0599183072 will work after 11am. The 1850 number will be switched over before 9am as this doesn't involve eircom.
Update: 18:10 Mon Aug 17th
This change over went ahead without any issues. All numbers/lines etc are now ported over to the new system.
Please take note that the phone system menu has changed. It is now 1 for Support, 2 for Sales and 3 for accounts.
