Summary: There's an on going issue where by the load on the mail servers is spiking quite frequently and causing timeouts in your e-mail client.

As we've been working on a solution to this for sometime there is no immediate fix. As an interim work around if customers change their mail checking limit from 1 minute to 7-10 minutes while we get a proper working resolution for this issue this will back off the load on the servers.

This has been going on for ages (on and off) - if it isn't fixed properly soon, my clients and I are going to migrate our hosted web and email services elsewhere!

Perhaps some of the load was my fault :/

I'll change my iPhones settings from 1 minute to 30. Thanks for letting us know about this problem.

Blacknight are currently moving email servers and such, so it should all be back up soon. In the meantime, use webmail (webmail.domain.com) until this issue is resolved.

I don't think there is any need to change hosting providers/email providers, as this is a one-off issue.
